The Frost Conservatory

All Frost Glasshouses are largely made from the finest hardwoods for durability. The timber structure is finished in microporous stain or paint. Glass is either in double or triple glazing.

Unusually, tie bars and trusses are rarely used within a Frost structure. The internal space is completely open. This is achieved by incorporating steels into the structure when necessary. The Frost Glasshouse is innately plain, strong and elegant. We avoid fussy, fragile detailing. Our structures are built to last and to be low maintenance.

The Ventilation System

We set our patented ventilation system within the roof ridge, the ideal location to extract hot, stale air. The system is controlled by a six stage programmable thermostat that operates automatically. We incorporate the appropriate ventilation capacity for each structure depending on orientation, scale and characteristics. Inlets at a low level allow cooler air to be drawn as the hotter air is expelled.

The vent assembly comprises a sequentially controlled cylinder fan, damper and an easily accessed integral circuit board.Each unit is supplied with a six-stage thermostat/control unit. The programming controls are simple to operate with integrated thermostat and LCD display screen, which incorporates an internal battery to ensure that settings are kept through any power cuts.

Glazing Options

Frost Conservatories use 20mm air-gap Low `E` double glazing as standard which is the best balance for sound and heat insulation. Other high insulating coatings, solar reflective glass and treble glazing are available. We use toughened glass throughout for safety.

We specify all of our structures individually, factoring in the proposed use, the orientation and the inherent characteristics of the design so that we can discuss and recommend suitable glazing options to our client.
